Get your popcorn ready, because Starlight is back! *FURL will be providing free popcorn at these events. Please come visit our table, or inquire about helping us volunteer!*

This year we have Luca, Raya and The Last Dragon, and Encanto! Movies start at 8:30 p.m., but the fun really begins with pre-show activities at 7 p.m.

In the event of bad weather, this event will be moved to the following Thursdays at 7 pm. Follow @FredCoLibrary on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.

Earth Day Book Recommendations + Local Event

In honor of Earth Day, FURL has compiled a list of a dozen of our favorite environmental books, and each one is available through FCPL. The following book title links will take you directly to the FCPL catalog. Check these out the next time you use the library!

We welcome you to come out and join us in celebrating at Green Team Urbana’s Earth Day event on Friday, April 22. FURL will have a table at 5:30pm at the Harris Street Community Center where we will be giving out reusable bags, jar openers, candy, and bookmarks.

Spring Used Book Sale 2022

Spring means rainy days, new plant life sprouting, and…our FURL Spring Used Book Sale is in bloom! Please join us on Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10 to shop gently used books (mostly under $1). The sale will take place in the community room on the lower level of the Urbana Library. The book sale is open to the general public at 10am on Saturday 4/9, though FURL members are invited to shop an hour early at 9am! Please donate books, time, and/or money towards supporting our library!

Screen-free Week

While we cannot stop using our devices for work and school communication, Screen-Free Week is an annual, international opportunity to carefully re-think how our digital world is affecting our real-life relationships. Participating is as simple as making a pledge to yourself to consider replacing screen-based entertainment with offline activities and downtime.

FURL’s first virtual meeting of the new year. We primarily discussed some of the library’s new initiatives and FURL’s author spotlight blog. In our last meeting, FURL approved to help fund holiday gift cards for the staff to local deli Pumpernickel and Rye. This also marks the one-year anniversary for the FURL blog and website. It’s amazing how much has happened in our world in just one year.
