Here’s a look at what you may have missed at our April FURL meeting, and what’s coming up next. All are welcome to join our monthly meetings. Our next one is May 10th again in-person, with Zoom option. This summer brings the FCPL Summer Reading Challenge and Starlight movie nights.

January 2021- Virtual Meeting Overview

FURL’s first virtual meeting of the new year. We primarily discussed some of the library’s new initiatives and FURL’s author spotlight blog. In our last meeting, FURL approved to help fund holiday gift cards for the staff to local deli Pumpernickel and Rye. This also marks the one-year anniversary for the FURL blog and website. It’s amazing how much has happened in our world in just one year.

March 2020 Meeting and Spring Book Sale

As Gov. Hogan began closing schools, libraries, and businesses, due to the growing coronavirus pandemic, we knew the book sale was just not feasible at this time. Unfortunately, we do not know if we will reschedule the sale or cancel it completely. Like most people, we are living with daily uncertainty about future events.

February 2020- Meeting Overview

On February 11, the Friends of the Urbana Regional Library held our annual meeting in the upstairs conference room of the Urbana Library. This meeting was huge, both in information and attendance. In addition to the usual agenda we discussed FURL highlights from the past year, Jess and Janet from Frederick County Public Libraries came to talk about the Summer Reading Program, and we met members from the Teen Advisory Board (TAB).
