On June 1st, the Urbana Regional Library implemented phase one of its tiered re-opening. Phase one includes the ability to return borrowed material and curbside pick-up.
Curbside pick-up is scheduled by appointment using the FCPL curbside website. The process is simple. Patrons request items using the online catalog, you’ll receive an email when your items are ready, sign on to FCPL.org and schedule your pick-up timeslot. When you arrive at the library, park in a numbered parking space and call the library phone number. A staff member will bring the books to you and place them in the trunk of your car.
Items previously checked out have extended return dates, and all new checkouts have a three-week return date. Returned items will go into a 72-hour quarantine before they are checked back in and ready for circulation.
The tiered opening has altered the library’s hours of operation. The library’s new hours are Monday thru Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Staff will be available via phone to answer questions about accounts or help with reference questions. Curbside pick-up is only available until 2:00 pm.
One thing to note, that although the library resumed circulating books and media it is NOT accepting donations at this time. Please DO NOT leave books outside the library or at the book drop.
I think it is safe to say we are all excited to see the library operating again, even in a limited capacity. We don’t have a timeline for when FCPL will implement the next phase of re-opening, but be sure to “like” our FURL Facebook page and you will know the date for Phase 2 as soon as we do.
Also, if you have any questions, FCPL has a wonderful FAQ detailing their re-opening and checkout process.
